co-matter digest #46: The future of conferences & the social web
Hello there!

We're back from our summer vacations and feeling rejuvenated! This means our community digest is in full swing again and hitting your inboxes every week.

In this edition, you'll get the inside scoop on the futures of conferences and the evolution of the social web, and – as always – the latest updates from the co-matter network... Enjoy!
Andrés Colmenares: The Futures of Conferences, Curation and Critical Dialogues

For us, IAM Weekend is a conference unlike any other. What makes it stand out is its inherently unique approach to designing an event and diverse curation of content. Held in Barcelona once a year, it brings together some of the brightest and most inventive people working in digital culture to spark critical dialogue about the futures of the internet and our existence. We spoke to the co-founder of IAM – the alternative think tank behind IAM Weekend – about how to curate provocative conversations, embrace risk and challenge conventional notions of what a conference is.

Creating the New Social Web

Interested in learning more about how the new social web will empower more diverse and sustainable communities? Then you won't want to miss the discussion we're hosting alongside The Conference on this topic. It'll feature Charles Broskoski (co-founder of Are.na), Lisa Ding (Senior Product Designer at Twitter) and internet artist Darius Kazemi, and take place at The Conference on August 27-28 in Malmö, Sweden.
