Our identities are no longer tied to our physical selves.
We Need to Talk About Avatars is a video essay in which we explore the anatomy of avatars. From their origin in 400BCE to their future as fragments of our identity in virtual and physical worlds.
We first presented this research as a lecture performance at Re:publica this month, Germany's largest conference for digital culture. Using the signature aesthetic that Theresa developed through her artistic practice, the full version lasted 30 minutes in front of a packed audience.
On the second day Severin presented After the Creator Economy (the zine we released with Metalabel) as part of a panel on New ownership and distribution models for creative practices.
We've co-curated and hosted the panel together with Barbara Cueto (Curator, Light Art Space) with Maria Paula Fernández (Founder, JPG) and Erik Bordeleau (Cultural theorist & founder, The Sphere) as further guests.
