The 2020s didn’t exactly get off to the start we’d hoped for.

The pandemic and its ensuing economic crisis, the ongoing environmental emergency, chaotic politics and the intensification of global surveillance– among many other factors – have created a climate of extraordinary uncertainty.

Amidst all the noise, our need for safe and productive virtual spaces where we can gather together, communicate, exchange ideas, build new movements, and support each other has never been greater.

Post-social media is about the future of building these digital communities.

It's been a little quiet here for the past 6 months.

During the pandemic I took the time to slow down and work on a few things that I couldn’t really focus on before. The result of this period is today’s launch of the Post-Social Media Report.

I’ve been working on it for almost 2 years with the aim to articulate my thoughts about the past decades and future of finding connection and community online.

A big thank you to Anna Dorothea Ker for editing the report, Oh Boy Design for designing it, the 250 community leaders who shared their insights in our annual survey, the participants of our summits in Berlin and Copenhagen and the forward-thinking people I had the opportunity to interview for the co—matter podcast.

This report was a labor of love and we couldn’t have done it without your contribution.

My hope for it is that it inspires people and organizations to build communities that give us strength, knowledge and resilience to take on the future.
