Petra Costa: The Edge of Democracy

Today, Petra Costa's new documentary, The Edge of Democracy, launches on Netflix. We had the opportunity to see it early at this year's CPH:DOX film festival. After the screening, we talked with Petra about her very personal film on the political crisis in Brazil, and how it reflects similar crises around the world. A crisis of democracy is, in part, a crisis of community. What ultimately defines a democratic nation is the core set of values and beliefs that unites its members – the basis of any community. So as we now see our nation states breaking apart, we ask ourselves: Why are we getting further apart from each other? What moves us to extreme, divisive opinions and positions?
